Is there a file here or could someone give me a schematic so I can send it to him? Here's a part of his letter: "I have used Flash (program) in the Atari ST and the TMXM2 in the portfolio. On the ST 4 connects with 5 and 6 connects w 8 & 20. (I assume Radio Shack is available in south America. They're everywhere else in the world!) I recommend the TransporT program for moving files between the ST and the Portfolio. It really does make life simple and the cost is a mere $29.95 from Artisan Software. You must know that hooking a computer to a modem isn't the same as hooking two computers together. Both com[puters will be trying to transmit on line two and receive on line three. Failure to communicate, y'might say. I have a cable I made with two nine pin females that only requires 3 wires and communicates with my Toshiba fine. It should work with the ST as well. Mine is kaput so I can't check it right now. Nor can I find my 9 to 25 pin adapter that I use with it when talking to a 25 pin serial port. But the three pins I'm using are 2,3, and 5. 5 is connected to 5, and 2 and 3 are reversed. That is, 2 goes to 3 and 3 to 2. Also, within each 9 pin plug, 4 is hooked to 6 and 7 to 8. This sends 'handshake' signals back to the same computer. So the correct design will look more like this: 1 nc nc 1 2 -------------- 3 3 -------------- 2 4 \ / 4 6 / \ 6 5 -------------- 5 7 \ / 7 8 / \ 8 9 nc nc 9 note that the numbers are not in order. Easier than drawing diagonal lines with ASCII :-). As for the 9 to 25 pin connections, I will try to look them up. They may be in the Port's serial port booklet. I keep forgetting about the necessary null modem adaptor. I have combined the null modem adaptor and DB25-to-DB9 adaptor into a single unit for transferring files between my ST and Portfolio, and I should be more specific when answering messages.
